McHENRY, Md. -- The relaunched Fairmont State wrestling team opened its 2019-20 schedule on Saturday afternoon with a dual exhibition at Garrett Community College in McHenry, Md. The second-year Lakers program edged the Falcons by a score of 30-22 on Saturday afternoon as Fairmont State went 3-2 after competing in five weight classes during its first meet of the season.
Fairmont State's Levi Smith picked up a victory by pin in the 141-pound weight class, while Patrick Vega added a 19-4 win by technical fall at 149 pounds. Devin Hamrick also rolled at 157-pounds to earn an 18-0 technical fall victory on Saturday afternoon.
Dakota McGough and Cade Moisey also opened their Fairmont State careers on Saturday afternoon, dropping matches in the 165- and 174-pound weight classes.
Fairmont State will return to action next Sunday at the Ohio Intercollegiate Open in Cleveland, Ohio. Start time is set for 9 a.m.
