Braxton Amos
Braxton Amos
did anyone score on him at this years tourney? I'd be willing to bet that he will win the next 2 titles and he can join some selected company in not being scored on (i know that Dylan Cottrell was a 4 time unscored on champ)
Re: Braxton Amos
Pretty sure his opponents had one or more points in the tournament.

He is incredible. Hitting a belly to belly throw in the state finals against a very good wrestler. He is something special for sure. All I can say is WOW!!!
Re: Braxton Amos
I have followed WV wrestling for over 25 years and Braxton Amos is the best upper weight class wrestler I have ever seen in our state. I saw Steve Mocco of Blair Academy wrestle in high school and Braxton is in that elite class. If he can find the right weight class in college (197 or 285), I would not be surprised to see him win one or more NCAA titles.

He hasn’t allowed a single point scored on him all year.

A single offfensive point hasn’t been scored on him. Escape points have been scored though. Haynes got one last night. Or more so was given one.

No disrespect to Braxton, he is a very talented wrestler of high prestige, no doubt. But if you think that Amos would beat Adams easily you have not been following Adams at he collegiate level. I have been following him all year long at open tournaments. Of 8 open tournaments, he has won 4. He wrestled a one point match with a nationally ranked opponent and lost due to a very debatable call made by the official.

I would take the class of Amos over the lack of class and total immaturity that Adams displayed last night.
Re: Braxton Amos
maskedman you are such a negative troll of this website and should find a new hobby. Noah was playing crowd control and big sandy arena should mail him a check. He simply escorted a rowdy friend away from the drama and calmed the situation. Noah wasnt in any way involved in a scuffle. Know the real facts before you smear a kids name. Noah calmed the situation and thats the fact! Rule number 1, never smear another mans childs name. You might want to look in the mirror and have little talk with yourself about maturity. Now that everyone knows the facts, this will be my last post. Matter of fact would a moderator delete the whole topic. This is getting ridiculousmaskedman wrote:James70johnson wrote:wrestlingfan23202 wrote:Remember tho there were ramblings of noah Adams winning NCAA titles. Re: Braxton Amos
I wonder if anybody knows when the last time Braxton has actually lost an actual match. Barring some sort of injury, he should be the favorite to win the next two WV state titles and probably wins the other major national tourneys as well. I wouldn’t care much to see him wrestle Adams...but quite frankly, I would pay $100 pay-per-view to watch him wrestle Mason Parris (Michigan signee) don’t know anything about Braxton other than what I have read, but evindetnally he has spent some time training with Kyle Snyder at Ohio State, he is only a sophomore, so a lot can happen and I am sure he is taking it 1 season at a time, but possibly we maybe seeing these two battle in the Big 10 in few years. In the meantime, the next few years should be a fun ride to follow this kid, he has the tools and evidentially the work ethic to make the entire state of WV proud!

Be nice and reasonable.
Holy smokes. Braxton Amos works out with a landmine now!!!!!!
Re: Braxton Amos
Braxton and Noah are friends. Have been for a long time. Noah has always been a class act. I seriously doubt that Noah compares himself to a high school sophomore at Parkersburg South any more than Braxton compares himself with a 7th grade wrestler at Independence. Noah will have a great career at WVU.
Mason Parris is also on another level and will have a great career at Michigan. Mason is deserving of his ranking.
He finished the season giving up some escapes and one penalty point for playing too rough this season. Escapes are sometimes necessary to push the pace and test an opponents conditioning. Not something he set out to do, just happened. It is time for Braxton to make a weight cut and take his biggest test to date in June.

No doubt, Braxton and Noah are in two different places in their life right now, it isn’t apples to apples at all..however, I must say it is awesome watching any son of WV compete and have success on the national level, at anything, wish both all the luck in the world. Mason Parris is clearly a stud that I bet not many high school kids look forward to stepping on the mat with and he has 2 more years of physical development, which can be a big difference during teenage years. When looking at any national ranking, Braxton is really the only sophmore even sniffing the top..the upper weight classes tend to be more upper class dominated. I will enjoy following the careers of Braxton and Noah...just like it is cool following Jared Haught at VT and Brandon Rader at WVU back in the day...but honestly, I did pay $100 to watch a gimmicky Mayweather/Mcgregor fight, I would easily do the same to see, what would be a more competitive and intense match between Amos/Parris, it’s just cool to see elite athletes compete.

Re: Braxton Amos
We should be thankful to see such elite talent in this state not have a measuring contest about who is better. Both kids are class acts. Both are elite WORLD talent. We are beyond blessed to be wrestling fans and have them come through in such a close timeframe.
I can’t wait to see Braxton at 197 wrestling world competition this summer. My only question is does he stay at 195 next year as he begins prep for college?
I first met Braxton when he was 5. As my son waited to go out to wrestle his first finals match. All I could do was look at my son and tell him good luck. Amos has just been that good for that long.

Hey guys i never said they weren’t both great and I know it’s not right to compare them I’m saying I would have LOVED to see that match. Amos is awesome and Adams is awesome. Unfortunately I really liked Adams I thought he was a great class act and a superstar in my eyes then his behavior yesterday was uncalled for but he is still a great wrestler and will do outstanding things! The same thing with Amos. I’m saying I would like to see it but I know I won’t lol. And that’s fine they’re still awesome and fun to watch.! Good luck Amos

Well that’s a pretty ridiculous statement as well. You must not have accurately followed Braxton Amos this year much either. Hadn’t given up an offensive point all year! Noah beat Haynes 11-4 last year at the Wsaz. Braxton was 3-0 against Haynes this year which includes a 1st period pin and a tech pin in the state finals. Advantage 4x Fargo champ and Ironman champ!

To be fair...the first Amos vs. Haynes match ended with a 5-2 score. And about 1.5 years ago...Amos lost 8-2 to Gavin Hoffman (freestyle)...who 3 months earlier Adams had beaten 5-2 (folkstyle). I think it would be a competitive match. They are both top level guys.

Your blind if you think that's was Noah getting carried out if you were not there shut up. Why pick one kid that happens to be a good kid and you don't have first hand knowledge of the situation and before you say anything about Indy I don't have any ties to that team but I do follow Adams in college.

Comparing wrestling styles. Makes sense
Re: Braxton Amos
Braxton gave up 2 single escape points at Ironman and was unscored upon at Powerade. He also gave up a single escape point in the OVAC final. Unprecedented stats for a WV high school wrestler

Letting them up isn’t giving up points. Either way it isn’t an offensive point like a take down or back points would be

These are incredible statistics wrestling any normal schedule, but what makes them truly epic is that Parkersburg South competed in (according to wrestlingreport.com’s rankings of tournaments) the two toughest high school wrestling tournaments in the country: #1 Walsh Jesuit Ironman in Ohio and, #2 Powerade at Canon-Mac in Pennsylvania.
Re: Braxton Amos
I figured Amos would get outstanding wrestler this year since no one scored on him

Jenny, I know you have all the stats. Braxton was 48-0 this year. How many pins and techs were in that total? Thanks!

Are you certain no points were scored?
