Former George Washington wrestling standout and two-time Class AAA 285-pound state champion David Smith tweeted Monday evening that he will enroll at West Virginia University and join the wrestling team.
Smith claimed his wrestling state titles as a junior in 2014 and as a senior in 2015 in addition to a standout football career for the Patriots. After high school, he joined the football team at Kent State as an offensive lineman but will make the switch from the gridiron to the wrestling mat for the Mountaineers. Smith will join fellow GW teammate and state champion Hunter Jones on the WVU roster.
