Marshall University - Revisited

Postby Bearhugger » Sun Apr 16, 2017 2:01 pm

Marshall University needs to get off of their A#@ and start a wrestling team.

AB did it.
WV Tech did it.
Bluefield State is doing it.

Just what is the problem in Huntington?
Holy smokes. Braxton Amos works out with a landmine now!!!!!!

They don't have the will to do it.

Wasn't it Title 9 the reason it got cut years age? I sure if it could happen it would be a great place to start, there are many WV high school state champions that attend there now. You would think the Archer family would push it more Robbie would be a good start for the program.

Conference USA doesn't have any school with wrestling programs that I am aware of. That may be the biggest issue.

Really Bearhugger.. u think its just that simple huh?
Just a matter of someone "getting off their @#%"
Surely u know more about the complexity of adopting a new sport than that? Or maybe not.

Money
Conference affiliation
Title IX considerations
Revenue or lack thereof as in non revenue sport
Scheduling
Interest
Travel expense (money)
Scholarships ( money)

We dont even have our own baseball field!! Oh, let me guess someone simply needs to " get off their @##" in that regard as well.

I figure Marshall has more money than many of the other schools I listed above. MU has grown and grown...............all of which takes money.

As a graduate of Marshall University, I will once again say that the school needs to get off their A$$ and start a wrestling program.

Next?????

Talk to Sean Doyle. Checkout WJU wrestling program. Gets very little recognition for starting a new program at WJU and in a few years becoming a nationally ranked D2 team.
