Both tournaments have been around for many years.
Both tournaments help raise money for the hosting program.
Another thought, why don't you pay and rent the armory, pay officials, and pay for awards on a weekend without conflicting schedules? You could setup, find volunteers, and direct the tournament.
Due to the regional tournaments being pushed back one week, it has now pushed back the "Single A Challenge". As we all know, The Single A challenge is NEW and obviously more important to the schools that are going. Many have pulled out of their tournaments they have been in for many years, which might be why Williamstown and Clay are/were looking for schools.
The awards are being paid for already. By merging the two tournaments, you now only have ONE first place trophy, instead of two. Savings!
The officials are already being paid. With all of the forfeits and quick pins (see ZZChoosesTop's analysis on another topic), we should be able to get this merged tournament done with less officials. More Savings!
As for the Jackson County Civic Center, it was a joke. There is no civic center in Jackson County.
In conclusions, there will be money saved and a better tournament if these two merged. Or, change the Single A Challenge and the regions back to how they were.
Enjoy the wrestling season!
