Re: Braxton
An athlete’s behavior reflects on the athlete and the people around him. Most kids compete with class, honor, and pride for themselves, their families, their teams, their coaches, and their schools. It’s the way it’s supposed to be, business as usual. They don’t draw a lot of attention for behaving ...

Re: Wvywa 12 yr olds
Debates about practice time, coaches, clubs, year-round wrestlers, advantages etc. are silly. We teach our kids that winning is about hard work and dedication. There is the occasional lazy talent that continues to dominate, and there are the hard workers that never break through. But, in MOST cases,...

Re: Open to hear about odds on whos going to win at WSAZ's in each weight
Not totally sure about 110. White is great just see Perdue giving him a match. But 102 and 155 have a couple of kids who Will make it interesting That was nice of you to say about Justin; however, he does not see himself as being "great" and definitely not "elite". We tell him, ...

Re: One coaches perspective of this weekend's WVYWA tournament
3) Coaches Passes - I noticed way too many people near the mats and entrances. We have a problem in our club ( and I am sure other clubs have the same problem) with dads who think they are coaches. We could not control at all times who was on the mat. We have some dads who we do not want representi...

Re: Please read .....
I'm not a referee. I'm not a coach. I watched the AAA 285 match. I don't know either wrestler or coach. I couldn't tell you what schools they were from. I thought the referee called a good consistent match. If I remember correctly (might not), He gave a double stall warning while neutral in the firs...

Re: Wrestling in College
I am far from an authoritative source. All I can do is repeat what I've heard others, some top level coaches, say. There are some extremely talented wrestlers in WV, but the talent doesn't run as deep as it does in states like OH and PA. Generally, a state champion in WV or KY won't get nearly as mu...

Re: Question about WVYWA qualifier
What about 11 and 12 year old middle school wrestlers? Are 12U wrestlers in middle school exempted from the qualifiers able to wrestle in the 12u youth divisions?

Re: West Virginia Jr. States
My family is new to the state. We don't have any loyalties to the "old" or the "new". From what I gather here, the vast majority of the wrestling programs/coaches from across the state are in agreement and want the new system. They've formed a centralized governing body seeking i...

Re: West Virginia Jr. States
Having qualifiers raises the standards. Generally, when standards are raised performance improves. The kids are going to have to work to earn their spots in the state tournament. In states where wrestlers have to qualify, qualifying means something. It's a source of pride and accomplishment. They ea...
