Re: AA/A ranked wrestlers per region
Keyser was not part of the 4 teams that competed to represent region 1 for the state duals. It was Fairmont Sr., East Fairmont, OG and Tyler. East Fairmont backed out last minute due to kids being sick. Had Keyser been able to step in, they could very well have made the top two given their line up....

Re: A/AA State Tournament Breakdown by Region
Region 1 did not disappoint at the State Tournament.
At 120# all 4 kids in the championship quarter finals were from Region 1, and all 4 placed in top 5.
At 126# the Region 3 champion lost to the Region 1 runner up and Region 1 3rd place kid. Three from Region 1 placed.

Re: Region 1 A/AA
Weir Coach is spot on yet again. For sake of discussion on the aspect of Polls not being an accurate ranking as far as who good kids in Region 1 is just not true. The coaches polls are generally as accurate as the information a particular coach has available. Either the coach saw a kid wrestle and w...

Re: who are some 9th graders, who could do some damage at states.
Burch at 120 - WCC Metcalf at 120 - Keyser Both have wrestled well against upper classman. I can see Burch in the finals. Spitznogle from Fairmont Sr verses Lilly will be a good match, but Davis will run that half of the bracket with no issues. Winfrey at 138- Tyler Consolidated has really turned th...

Re: Region 1 A/AA
No wrestler competing in Huntington next week was likely born yet in 2006 lol.

Re: Region 1 A/AA
I'm not exactly new to wrestling, but how long ago was it the region 4 had twice as many ranked kids as any other to regions combined?

Re: Region 1 A/AA
The State tournament is 3 days long. Adding a couple kids to the bracket isn't going to be the end of the world. You don't make things better for the kids by punishing weak regions or small schools by not letting their 4th place kids compete. The idea is to get more kids into wrestling. Not every sc...

Re: Region 1 A/AA
I have to agree on this. Other regions may not want to make a change on this because they know the outcome will be fewer of their kids on the podium in Huntington because the extra region 1 kids will be beating them. Kids wrestling in region 1 also tend to have a few more loses on their records main...

Re: OW awards
I was curious about the selection process too. If I were voting on the most outstanding wrestler in Single A to have not won in the championship match I would have gone with Curran from Doddridge County. He won his first two matches by major decision, and only lost the championship in overtime. It w...

Re: AA/A 120 State Pairings
The #1 and #2 ranked wrestlers were moved out of the same half of the bracket. That is a great change from years past. That should be the end of it. Hess is clearly the #2 wrestler of the remaining kids. I've watched everyone in the top 5 several times this year other than Wood. Should make for an e...

Re: AA/A ranked wrestlers per region
Greenbrier West is a very solid team no doubt. But look at Region 3 in Beartracks, and he can't come up with a 3rd or 4th kid to rank in many of the weight classes.
