Re: I may ruffle a few feathers
First, the Archer's have done a fabulous job of fostering this tournament. They're the best, hands down! Coach Archer can't help the fact that Huntington's arena might not be as modern as Wheeling's. He does the best with what he has to work with. Second, nobody else is bidding on it. If they do, it...

Fortunate to have good, young officials
Like many of you on here, I follow a lot of other high school sports. After witnessing what I have in basketball this year, I wanted to take a moment to say wrestling is LUCKY to have a group of young officials coming up through the ranks the past several years. I don't see that same youth movement ...

Nice job Brent. I do a lot of research too and the thing is this, there is no right or wrong when it comes to organizing your information. It's also great to share it when you're looking for help. Somebody has what you're looking for. Good luck on completing it!

Coach, I don't believe we will attempt to. We fight for one gymnasium with both boys and girls basketball, and they had already built their schedules around our tourney.

Re: Single A polls
That's crazy, but it won't matter if Greenbrier West is #1 at the end of February! Seriously though, I imagine this is what football programs feel like when the college football coaches poll comes out. How can you vote this way if you've looked at the results before you voted? I like it when a voter...

Coalfield Conference historical results
I've been working on adding historical results for the Coalfield Conference to Doc's conference page. I sent him 1986-88 results yesterday as well as 1981 team results with a few individual placers. The history is little muddy going back that far. At least one article says the "first" Coal...

This event was cancelled today by the Greenbrier County BOE transportation director due to the frigid weather. Apologies to the teams that had agreed to participate. We had 11 teams total.

Re: Time for 3 classes
I heard the idea of awarding the highest finishing single A team a plaque during the 2013 tournament. Greenbrier West won AA/A that season and I figured the idea was forgotten. There are a lot of ideas on the table here. I'm not sure a diminished regional (in terms of the number in each bracket) in ...

I put together a spreadsheet based on Dr. Miller's ten year state tournament results. I used the WSAZs as the state tournament for middle schools. Unless he has posted the corrected sheet, Buffalo is incorrectly identified as a Single A feeder. They are AAA. Enjoy. http://www.wvmat.com/jrhi/15tenyea...
